Sedbergh Medical Practice

Monday to Friday 8.30am to 5.30pm or 6pm daily (by appointment only)

A practice nurse is available by appointment for medication reviews, asthma reviews, diabetic reviews, routine smears, travel advice, vaccinations, childhood immunisations, blood pressure checks, ear syringing, and general heath checks. New patients checks, well man and well woman checks and wound care.

Blood Clinics: are held each weekday morning and are run by our healthcare assistants.

You can book an appointment on a Saturday or weekday evening provided by Morecambe Bay Primary Care Collaborative

Saturday appointments (9am to 5pm) with a GP, Nurse or Health Care Assistant on rotation across Bentham, Lunesdale and Sedbergh Surgeries.

Evening Appointments via telephone (between 6.30pm - 8pm) with a GP, Mental Health Nurse or Pharmacist.

Monday/Wednesday/ Friday Evening:  GP telephone

The clinician can access your record with your surgery (with your consent) and advise, treat and prescribe medication. They can order blood tests and onward referral if needed.

Tuesday Evening, Pharmacist – can advise on your medications, health advice and support your Long Term Conditions. These appointments are usually every Tuesday evening. 

Thursday Evening , Mental Health Nurse : are you feeling a bit low, anxious and need to talk. Accessing some support can prevent things escalating. These appointments are longer, with the same MH Nurse and usually every Thursday evening offering you continuity.

How to make your appointment: Contact your Surgery and ask for a weekend or evening appointment.  Nationally there is a problem with making these appointments available on line, it is coming soon, we hope.

Between the hours of 6.30pm and 8am when the surgery is closed and you require urgent medical assistance which is not life threatening but which cannot wait until surgery re-opens please dial 111.

People with communication difficulties or impaired hearing are able to use the NHS 111 via a textphone by calling 18001 111.

Call 999 in an emergency - chest pains and / or shortness of breath constitute an emergency.

111 online is a fast and convenient alternative to the 111 phone service and provides an option for people who want to access 111 digitally. 

Your needs will be assessed and you will be given advice about whether you need:

• Treat yourself at home
• Go to a Primary Care Centre

If you need face to face medical attention you may be asked to attend a Primary Care Centre.
