DIABETES CLINIC

Practice Nurses

A practice nurse is available every day, by appointment, for routine smears, travel advice and vaccinations, blood pressure checks, asthma checks, diabetic checks and general health checks. Blood tests, ear syringing and new patient checks are carried out by the Health Care Assistants. Flu clinics are advertised in the autumn.

Minor Surgery

Dr Lumb performs minor operations at the Health Centre by appointment.

Special Examinations

The practice is committed to Health Promotion and the prevention of disease. If a particular check is necessary, e.g. for asthma, diabetes, anti-coagulant therapy or heart disease, you may expect to be contacted at regular intervals. You will only be excluded from recalls if you make a specific request.

Breast Screening

Women aged between 50 and 70 years of age will be called automatically for breast screening. This is worked on a three year rota and the first appointment will be between your 50th and 53rd birthday.

Breast screening for healthy women over 70 can be arranged as a self-referral by telephoning 01524 583050.

BABY CLINIC

Midwife

The Midwives, run a clinic at the health centre each Friday. However newly pregnant women must now register on-line at

www.uhmb.nhs.uk/maternity.

A member of the maternity admin team will contact you within 5 working days to arrange your first appointment.

Baby Clinics

The Health Visitor, Liz Ankers, holds a clinic at Sedbergh Health Centre on the 2nd and 4th Thursdays each month between 10.00 and 11:30 (from 27th Sept 2018).  Liz is contactable in the Kendal office 015242 79177 or 07967 831942 at other times.  This is a 'drop in' clinic where parents can see the health visitor, get the baby weighed and purchase vitamins.

Baby Immunisations 

Our practice nurse holds a baby immunisation clinic by appointment on Tuesday mornings.

WART CLINIC

Physiotherapy / Podiatry / Chiropody / Audiology

An NHS Podiatrist attends the Health Centre every week to treat patients referred by the Doctor. In addition the chiropodist will see private patients.

Unfortunately Audiology no longer attend the surgery. Please use the drop-in service at Westmorland General Hospital Tuesday and Thursday 9.30-12.00 or Royal Lancaster Infirmary Mon / Wed / Fri 12.30 - 4.00

Family Planning and Coil Fitting / Nexplanon

Please contact us for advice and we will signpost you to the correct clinician for family planning and coil fitting. Coil fitting & removal requires a longer appointment and a nurse present so please mention when booking your appointment. Routine pill checks are undertaken by our nurses also by appointment.
